This December 12 in Mexico we celebrate the apparition of the Virgin of Guadalupe on the hill of Tepeyac, it is a day of celebration and since the beginning of the month we pay homage to the little brunette with pilgrimages, dances, flowers, visiting her temples like the Basilica of Guadalupe, the temple of Guadalupe and others dedicated to her honor, I share with you a little of this great love we have in Mexico for our beautiful Virgin of Guadalupe.}}
Ten years after the conquest of Mexico, on December 9, 1531, Juan Diego was on his way to the Convent of Tlaltelolco to hear Mass. At dawn he arrived at the foot of Tepeyac. Suddenly he heard music that sounded like the chirping of thousands of birds. Very surprised he stopped, looked up at the top of the hill and saw that it was illuminated with a strange light.
The music ceased and at once he heard a sweet voice coming from the top of the hill, calling him: "Juanito; dear Juan Dieguito". Juan climbed quickly and when he reached the summit he saw the Blessed Virgin Mary in the middle of a rainbow, dressed in heavenly splendor. Her beauty and kind glance filled his heart with infinite joy while he listened to her tender words addressed to him. She spoke in Aztec. He told her that she was the Immaculate Virgin Mary, Mother of the True God.
She revealed to him how it was her most vehement desire to have a temple there on the plain where, as a pious mother, she would show all her love and mercy to him and his people and to all who would ask for her protection. "And to realize what my clemency intends, you will go to the house of the Bishop of Mexico and tell him that I am sending you to manifest to him what I very much desire; that here on the plain I build a temple. You will tell him how much you have seen and admired, and what you have heard.
