1990 - Vanilla Ice
'Ice Ice Baby', by Vanilla Ice became the first rap record to top the US singles chart, (and later also a UK No.1 single). The track was initially released as the B-side to the rapper's cover of 'Play That Funky Music', and became the A-side after US DJ's started playing the track.

Were you cool as Ice? This guy came out of nowhere with a penchant for success. Who knew this would have taken off as big as it did. Did you see people walking around with the blonde Vanilla Ice flow? Of course you did. Those tram lines are a thing of legends.

Who says a white boy can't rap? One of the earliest incarnations and years before Eminem too. He can dance too, check out these moves. Color or creed does not matter in the music game or anything, if you've got it you've got it. Synchronized dancing too, he's got it all.

Gotta love that Mustang 5.0, I can hear that engine gurgling before it leaves some tread on the asphalt. All the fly girls would wander up to Ice to see what's happening.

Word to your Mother.

Don't forget one of the best skits on In Living Color, "White, White, Baby" done by none other than Jim Carrey. If I remember correctly this was never even on the dvds due to copyright issues. What a shame and such a great parody.

Last but not least, let's not forget Vanilla Ice had his own film. I know, crazy right? Cool as Ice (1991). What a trip this one was and I need to watch this again ASAP.
