2013 - Lou Reed
Velvet Underground frontman Lou Reed died at the age of 71. An admitted hard drinker and drug user for many years, he underwent a liver transplant in Cleveland in April 2013. Afterwards he claimed on his website to be 'bigger and stronger' than ever.

A consummate professional battling his own demons throughout his lifetime. Many of his songs are prolific and speak to the light and dark side of life. These hits are hard to ignore, you've probably heard them throughout your life or in films that the dotted the landscape for years.

I was wondering why I kept hearing his songs today in numerous settings. Now I know.

I'm not well versed in his work but the hits resonate. Clear, concise and to the point. There is something to say about relative simplicity in music structure where the lyrics take front stage. The following two tracks emphasize this clearly.

There's no better place to share music than Blurt. Someone is always posting something interesting that will catch your attention. Lou Reed caught mine. Thank you Mr. Reed, you've left a lasting musical legacy.
