Today is the Big Day.

The Day we wait for all year long.... yes it’s St Paddy’s Day again here in Canada. One of our favourite Holidays. Hopefully everyone has their Guinness at home and ready to go. It’s time to Celebrate.

Saint Patrick’s Day, feast day (March 17) of St. Patrick, patron saint of Ireland. Born in Roman Britain in the late 4th century, he was kidnapped at the age of 16 and taken to Ireland as a slave. He escaped but returned about 432 to convert the Irish to Christianity. By the time of his death on March 17, 461, he had established monasteries, churches, and schools. Many legends grew up around him—for example, that he drove the snakes out of Ireland and used the shamrock to explain the Trinity. Ireland came to celebrate his day with religious services and feasts. Saint Patrick's Day is celebrated on Wednesday, March 17, 2021.

May the Luck of the Irish be with you on this Blessed Day !

May the blessing of light be on you—
light without and light within.
May the blessed sunlight shine on you
and warm your heart
till it glows like a great peat fire.

May your home be filled with laughter
May your pockets be filled with gold
And may you have all the happiness
Your Irish heart can hold.

May your blessings outnumber
The Shamrocks that grow
And may trouble avoid you
Wherever you go.

May luck be a friend to ye,
And be with ye in all yer days,
And may trouble be to ye,
A stranger, always

May the lilt of Irish laughter lighten every load, may the mist of Irish magic shorten every road, may you taste the sweetest pleasures that fortune ere bestowed, and may all your friends remember all the favors you are owed

Glad to see a post discussing the history of St. Patricks. So many don't know the history, and as with many holidays hold little respect for it other than as an excuse to get trashed with friends and families. Most are unaware that the patron saint of Ireland wasn't Irish. As one of Irish descent, appreciate this factual presentation rather than one stereotyping this as an Irish day of drinking as so many seem to here in the U.S.
