Blurtmusic: National Peanut Day

Yum.

Today is National Peanut Day.

I think I like just plain salted peanuts the best… hmm… maybe dry roasted. Actually peanuts in the shell are the best.

What’s your favourite kind of peanut ?

I’m always grabbing a fistful of peanuts during the day to keep me tied over until dinner time.

Here is some Reggae for today’s #Blurtmusic Holiday Playlist …

A Fistful of peanuts …

There’s a very funny bit in the Marx Brothers’ classic film, “Duck Soup,” where Chico runs a peanut stand. We won’t give it away here but it’s something to watch on National Peanut Day, an annual event that rolls around every September 13. It’s incredible that such a small groundnut has everybody talking today!

Peanuts, which are grown underground, have a long history, originating in South America over 3,500 years ago. Eaten alone or mixed with butter, peanuts are used in virtually everything including soups and ice cream. Don’t even get us started on pb & j sandwiches! This National Peanut Day, grab a handful, salted or not, and savor the flavor of our national goober.

I like those cajun peanuts with all the nice seasoning on them. Very tasty with a bit of kick. Hopefully nobody has nut allergies, everyone seemingly does these days.

here you will often find market stalls selling peanuts steamed in their shells - so quite soft inside.

One thing I dislike is the nasty-tasting palm oil used in peanut butter - horrible to cook with too! lol. Add some coconut oil to make it palatable.

Yeah… in Rome I used to get Roasted Chestnuts like that too… very soft … but an acquired taste

Every Christmas we gather around the Fireplace here in Canada and listen to Nat King Cole sing the very famous Christmas song … “Chestnuts roasting on an open fire, Jack Frost nipping at your nose, … and never once thought of actually roasting chestnuts on the open fire….
