Today is World Bicycle day.
Usually I would be very happy about this day and I would celebrate with a good long bike ride along the many trails here along the Rideau.
But I have a flat tire. The rear wheel.
I tried to fix it in the fall. But there were no inner tubes available in the size I needed. 700 x 38c … I did find one at Canadian Tire, but it looked quite old. I tried it and it exploded when I was filling it with air.
I don’t want to try that again since I have no idea how long these things have been sitting on the shelf.
I am on a waiting list and my bike will get a tune up and new tire on June 22.
So today I will borrow my son’s more uncomfortable Mountain bike
And take it for a ride.
Here is my Song Selection for World Bicycle Day…
For many of us, riding a bicycle without training wheels is the first challenging physical activity we ever learn how to master. We all remember, don’t we? A running start. The protective hand secured to the bicycle seat is released. And then — ZOOM! — the child is off and peddling, and a lifetime of adventure and freedom awaits aboard a succession of beloved two-wheeled conveyances. In the spirit of that very first trip, let’s take a closer look at World Bicycle Day, June 3, shall we?
That sounds like the archetypal falling-over learner experience.
I taught my kid to balance first - then riding was quite easy.
Now, here's a computer falling over a bicycle song...
Yes… teaching my son how to drive a bike was a disaster. He drove into a mailbox…. And then never let me teach him anything ever again.
lol. a motorbike ?
reminds me, one of our first lessons, found a nice flat grassy field - but.... had recently been watered... she rode straight into a waterlogged patch of mud! Free mud bath. yuck!
