Today we celebrate the black bear.
Makwa.
I am very familiar with black bears having grown up surrounded by them in North Ontario.
You have to be very careful you don’t leave out any garbage or even grease on your BBQ. Otherwise you will have lots of black bears in your yard.
They also love apples so you need to make sure you pick them up as soon as they fall from the tree.
Black bears are beautiful … you just need to keep your distance.
Here is the Anishinaabe Bear Song …
The Bear Symbol represents strength, family, vitality courage and health. The bear is thoughtful and independent, with little need for fellowship. The bear is also self-contained and strong-willed in nature.
Industrious, instinctive, healing, power, sovereignty, guardian of the world, watcher, courage, will power, self-preservation, introspection, and great strength.
