Happy National Clams on the half shell Day today ...
Yum. Next to Clam Chowda my favourite is Clams on the half shell.
So good.
The 1st time I had clams on the half shell was at a pub in the Quincy Market in Boston ... Or maybe it was on Cape Cod. As usual, there was lots of beer involved.
It was somewhere in New England, ... definitely the North East ...
Definitely on the East Coast of the USA.
Now that I think about it a little more It might have been while we were out West near Lake Tahoe. We were Panning for gold on the Mokelumne River.
We didn’t have much luck with the whole prospecting gig. This song pretty much sums it up.
My song Selection for National Clams on the Half Shell Day.

On National Clams on the Half Shell Day, on March 31, seafood lovers won’t clam up about their love for clams because, today, they get to devour these meaty saltwater animals that they have probably been clamoring for for months.
As a cousin to oysters, the bivalve mollusks with their fishery goodness are best enjoyed fried, steamed, or grilled. Let’s come together to build up our appetite for clams on the half shell and eat them raw with cocktail sauce and mignonette!

This is a great story. I love roasting clams over a fire right at the seashore. There are plenty of shells here at seaside but I would never eat one of those guys raw.
I think when that song was probably written when Peugeot Sound was a wilderness and the land was cheap. Now those clam prospectors are rich.
Clams in a half shell reminds me too much of the Ninja Turtle Theme song.
Ha ha.... yeah, when I was looking for this song about clams all I could find was Ninja Turtles 🐢 songs
