Sari Grandstaff established this holiday in 2007 and also started The Haiku Foundation in 2012. This is a day for Haiku readings, exhibits and competitions.
There is a list of some of the Haiku events on The Haiku Foundation website.

One of the most intriguing events is the Haiku film festival. I wondered how a film can be made about Haiku year after year. Then I found there is a special format for Haiku videos. There are 17 segments of 17 seconds for 4 minutes and 59 seconds.
I like this Haiku video presentation by @taponyourglass. It contains the reading of Haiku after Haiku with the accompaniment of traditional instruments. It is not only the Haiku but also the instruments and music and sounds that really puts me in the mood for Haiku.
Waiting for the tears of rain
Settle in the soil
Sustenance of earth's riches
Joy for thirsty roots
For those who are planted strong
Life shines through her rays
Is the poem without life
She lies there in mud
Here is Jinpangu with his Haiku song
It's funny because Jinpangu in Korean means new fart! LOL
