A kite without a string.
When I was in kindergarten I entered a kite flying contest at the school and won a prize for the best little kite flyer. I got the prize because my kite flew the highest. The problem is that the kite did not come down. I let out all the string. I can still remember crying until the contest judge came up to me and said, "You won. No can fly a kite as high as yours is flying. It will probably fly around the world."
I was really happy and didn't realize it was a pity prize and that my kite that was out of sight now would probably crash as the next change in wind direction. My kite was lost and that's what I would be without my wife. Just a crashing overaged teenager.
