The famous alternative band Foo Fighters, fronted by Nirvana's ex-drummer Dave Grohl, will release their album Hail Satin, consisting entirely of '70s-inspired disco dance tracks, on July 17.
Not to confuse fans, the band has adopted a pseudonym, Dee Gees. The name refers to the legendary Bee Gees, and at the same time it plays with the initials of the band's frontman.
It all started as a joke - one day the guys watched a documentary about the Bee Gees while under quarantine, and decided to do their own cover of their song "You Should Be Dancing". After a successful performance with it on BBC Radio 2 it turned out to be a successful experiment and worth trying their hand in a new direction. The more so Grohl liked this experience and it was much easier to make disco than rock, and he and other members of the band had a good rest and fun during the recording of the album.
The album will include four Bee Gees covers (Night Fever, Tragedy, You Should Be Dancing and More Than a Woman), plus a cover of Shadow Dancing by Andy Gibb, which spent seven weeks at number one in the US charts in 1978.
Let's have some fun!
