Today I saw an analysis made by Chombo, a Panamanian producer of great renown. I agree with many aspects of his explanation since Freddie could reach notes literally impossible for a man. Freddie was a baritone. His voice ranged from 4 octaves, which is impressive for a man. He also added aspects of his personality, which is a very characteristic trait of his. He even clarified why Freddie did not record with Michael Jackson, he said that despite being great exponents of music in different genres, their personalities clashed and they could never reach an agreement, although their friendship was not affected by it. His life of excesses sadly led him to contract HIV, announcing it publicly the day before his death. He was a master on stage, interacting and playing with his audience like no other. The scandals about his sexuality, being bisexual at a time when homosexuality was just emerging. His craziness and way of living his life in different ways helped him to consolidate himself as the great icon of rock and music that he became and still is today. To this day, no one equal to the stature of Freddie Mercury has ever been born, or at least we haven't met him. I dare to say that one of the best jewels we have missed is that collaboration between Freddie and Michael. If they had managed to reach an agreement and recorded the projects they had planned, what a jewel they would have left us.
Nobody will ever match Freddie .... There is a Canadian named Marc Martel who reminds me of him though ... Listen to his performance of Love of my Life ...
That guy really does have a voice that sounds really nice. I've heard him before and we have to admit he has a great talent. But at the end of the day he still has a long way to go to reach freddie's level. In the same way, the effort and passion he puts into his covers and interpretations to be as similar to freddie as possible can be appreciated!
Definitely... nobody will ever match the mastery of Freddie Mercury. But we all miss him so much it’s nice to know that someone is out there singing his songs with so much passion, and bringing joy to those listening. I close my eyes while listening and find myself wishing Freddie was still alive. Wishing I could have seen him perform live at a concert again.
Here is a mash up (overlay) I made of them performing Together ....
Here is another mash up of them performing Don’t Stop me Now ....
Here’s one from this week....
