Since in the last episode we talked about a very influential band, Pixies, I say we continue the trend. Here we have another band, often cited as an influence, but Nirvana transcends the rock genre and even some popular pop artists identified Nirvana as a notable influence in their creations.
Even to this day, both the band and its front man, Kurt Cobain, remain quite popular and not without reason. Cobain is said to have one of the most unique voices. That becomes clear as soon as you hear someone else perform a Nirvana song as it just sounds off without Cobain's rugged and powerful voice.
Indeed the contribution Cobain had to Nirvana was tremendous. After his suicide in 1994, the band broke off. The drummer, Dave Grohl went on to form the Foo Fighters, one of the most beloved modern rock bands out there.
Conspiracy much?🧐
One memory I have related to today's song happened when I was pretty young. I remember I was in the car with my father, he didn't use to have a beard at back then.
We were going to the beach which was like a 6-7 hours drive and we had this old car that even smelled old. When you give your car a name because you're emotionally attached to it, then you know that car is damn old.
Since it was summer, we left in the middle of the night so that we'd be at the beach by sunlight. I remember that night because it was strangely foggy for a summer night. I remember us driving into this gas station to fill the tank and get something to eat. I stayed in the car while my dad went inside. The song that was playing that night was The man who sold the world by Nirvana, it was from the MTV unplugged CD. The fog was making the lights radiating from the gas station blurry and they were swirling and mixing as the music played .
Who knows?
Not me
I never lost control
You're face to face
With the man who sold the world
I love Nirvana! Foo Fighters... not so much lol
Yea me neither, but I know a lot of people love them. The lyrics are too cheesy for me 😂😂😂
