After watching the movie The Meg, I realized that I had to watch the newly released sequel The Meg 2: The Trench, I watched the movie knowing that watching the sequel had become a necessity rather than a curiosity. The sequel got off to such a great start that I saw the Megaladon (giant shark) vs. human fight that I expected to happen in the ocean suddenly come ashore.
What, did the shark come ashore? Calm down, of course not. I watched some creatures whose extinction ended millions of years ago and remained in the dusty pages of history, fighting among themselves, and I felt like saying "calm down, there is enough meat for all of you".
As the story continues from where it left off, in addition to the first movie; we see that some extinct creatures other than Megaladon are included in the movie. I guess that's why Trench imside was used, but there is no information about how land-dwelling creatures can get out of the hole in the ocean, and there is no illumination throughout the movie.
All the characters from the previous movie are present in the second movie. Moreover, they seemed to have shed their inexperience and confusion from the first movie and behaved more professionally. I think those who know the story from the first movie will enjoy the sequel more. Since I watched the movies back to back, I can make comparisons between the movies more easily. While the expansion of the story added more to the movie, it hinted that the next movie would turn into a sea and land struggle.
I don't know if there will be a sequel yet, but the endings of some movies can give hints about the sequel. In this respect, I am one of those who think that there will be a sequel and that the story will expand much more in the sequel. Maybe the world will be invaded by aliens before history and sea-land battles will start. In a possible scenario, I can say that the sides of the war and the winner are clear.
Meg 2: The Trench, the professional behavior of the characters and the constant sarcastic dialogues among themselves; I can say that it reduces the dose of tension in the story. The first movie was more successful in terms of tension. The second movie progressed more in the adventure-comedy genre and I can say with peace of mind that the genres I mentioned peaked with the final scene of the movie.
That's why I recommend watching the movie to those who like adventure and comedy genres instead of thriller lovers. In case there is a possible sequel, you will not be left behind in the story. The increased number of land scenes in the movie also shows that the space allocated for the movie is not only the ocean and below. When I think about the struggle that takes place both on land and in the ocean, I can say that the movie also has a visual show aspect. I wish everyone who will watch the movie a good time.
