The stock market, charts, trading volumes, buy/sell signals and similar discourses have always constituted an area that I have never been interested in and do not understand. To put it more clearly, the stock market is no different from a "black hole" for me.
Wherever there is an easy way to make money, there is an easy way to lose money. And probably in most of them, the probability of losing money is higher than the probability of winning. This indicates gambling in my criteria or involves a risk close to gambling.
There is a saying about stock exchanges that I don't know who said it, but I am quite familiar with it. The stock market is a platform where the impatient transfer money to the patient. It is a nice and catchy saying that serves to remind the fact that where there are winners, there are also losers.
I liken the stock market to a legitimate field where dirty games are played, such as politics. In every bad situation, someone is thrown into the middle and their heads are taken metaphorically by holding them responsible for all that happened.
And everyone knows that every crisis period is a time for someone to make a lot of money. The fact that those who foresee and evaluate the crisis are touted as stock market experts who know months/years ahead does not change the fact that they are actually headhunters.
The bait attached to the end of the fishing rod is important to determine the type and size of the fish to be caught. The bait thrown out in times of crisis is also valuable in determining who will lose and gain what in the stock markets.
No one wants to be prey or bait. What makes them prey or bait are the criteria set by the hunter to reach his target. Every crisis or similar failure must have a responsible party. It is the person who is placed in the position of prey or bait against his/her will who is shown as the responsible or causative person.
All of these are reflections of my thoughts, some of which I already know and some of which I have gained by watching the 2011 film Margin Call. The reason why I attach importance to what the film reflects is that the film is based on the realities of the financial crisis in the United States in 2008.
The only goal of the team, which sees the crisis coming and is ready to play all kinds of games to survive, is to survive the end of the day. In this regard, it is certain that they will not hesitate to spend their own employees, throw bait in the middle and make all kinds of manipulation.
After all night long meetings, when it was decided to sell all the shares before the value decreased, the sentence "sell even to your mother if necessary", which was told to the stock market experts, is enough to explain the grave and ugly picture.
Some films should be watched with a film's eye, but some films should be watched as a part of real life. The film Margin Call should be watched as a part of real life. The subject is a simple but highly effective scenario and the scenario is built on real events.
Earning easy money and improving the quality of life should never become a priority ambition. When it does, everything can either be lost or become bait in someone's fishing rod. Knowing that it is more likely to lose easily where it is easy to win, can minimise the losses that may occur or not take any risk at all. A more secure lifestyle will be both stress-free and healthier.
