Sleep is not the best option when you desire a physical and mental rest. At least not for me! A better choice is to sit on the single sofa, put your feet up on the coffee table and turn on a simple film that is not too complicated. That's what I did, or thought I did!
The purpose of wanting the plot and progression of the film to be simple; I didn't want to tire my mind more. The 2022 film Lou was the kind of film that I said I found what I was looking for up to a point. The life of an old woman and her tenant, a young woman and her little daughter on an island with a wonderful view, in a natural environment and surrounded by water; doesn't it seem like a good choice to you?
When an old woman named Lou responded negatively to her tenant's attempt to postpone the rent before the approaching downpour, I laughed as if to say welcome to the real world. Nowadays, rising house rents are enough to make landlords look like ruthless, money-loving monsters, but I agree with them at some point. Everyone is trying to protect what they have against inflation!
The untouched beauty of green and blue in the film scenes fascinates and gives peace. It was really a film that was good for me according to my mood. As I said at the beginning; up to a point!
In a few minutes what happens is that the old woman turns out to be a former CIA agent who is on the CIA's list of people to be eliminated. Oh my god, all I wanted was a static and uncomplicated film.
Anyway, I had to finish what I started, so I kept watching. I learnt that the old woman's tenant and daughter were actually her daughter-in-law and granddaughter. And as if all this wasn't enough, the old woman's son shows up; to kill his mother and ex-wife!
The film Lou, which I saw as a simple film and hoped to be so, suddenly leaves me in the middle of the chaos. Under normal circumstances, I would say that it is a great film and you should definitely watch it, but tonight the conditions were not normal for me.
One way or another, I watched the film to the end. I learned a small detail that I missed at the beginning. The film was a Netflix production and I liked it like other Netflix productions that I liked recently.
The three most important women in the world for a man should be his mother, wife and daughter. This was not the case for Chris because he wanted his mother and wife to die. The reason for this is partially explained throughout the film, but it cannot give a complete answer. As the only shortcoming of the film, they could not fill in what exactly caused this attitude of Chris. This gives the feeling that something is missing in the film.
The acting of Allison Janney, who played the character of Lou, was at a high level. The environments where the film was shot; the island shore and the forested areas in the interior of the island were wonderful. At the beginning, I could not understand that there was a mystery in the film, and when I understood, they wanted the mystery to be revealed. In this respect, I think the film is successful. It has a bit of a twist ending.
The only shortcoming may be that I watched the film at the wrong time. If I had watched it on the weekend, I would have offered a different opinion, but it would definitely be positive. It was one of the films that reflected the spirit of adventure well.
