Chadwick Boseman, who was superbly cast, reprises his role as T'Challa, a character who was initially introduced in Marvel's "Civil War". In that movie, a terrorist strike in Vienna claims the life of his father, the king of the tiny African nation of Wakanda. T'Challa is about to succeed his father as king of Wakanda and serve as its super-powered defender when "Black Panther" starts. He soon encounters a variety of difficulties coming from both inside and outside the covert borders of his country.

In many aspects, "Black Panther" revitalizes its genre, and the two films are comparable. Themyscira, a fictional island, was depicted in that movie as being undiscovered and unaffected by the outer world. Here, Wakanda is playing the role of a third-world nation while actually being wealthy in energy and technology because of a potent alien material called vibranium that they keep secret from the rest of the world. The leaders of Wakanda's five tribes debate whether to take a more traditional stance or one that is more open to the outside world. Isolationism is just one of the many topics they discuss. The inevitable sequels will demonstrate that there is no simple solution.

While T'Challa is the focus, one could argue that the supporting cast is what really gives this story its depth and richness. Then, there are his allies—a beautiful group of strong, multifaceted women. In her role as Wakandan secret agent and T'Challa's principled ex-girlfriend Nakia, Lupita Nyong'o excels. As Okoye, the commander of the female special forces group known as the Dora Milaje, Danai Gurira shines. Shuri, T'Challa's exuberant younger sister, is portrayed by Letitia Wright. She is what Q is to James Bond to her brother. Together with these great stars, we also get Angela Bassett, Martin Freeman, and Forest Whitaker.

Ulysses Klaue (Andy Serkis), a member of the opposition, is a vibranium fiend with knowledge of Wakanda's big secret. I can't quite put my finger on what it is that makes Serkis' performance so special. It's obvious that Serkis is enjoying himself while playing the weird and nasty Klaue.

But, the actor who plays Erik "Killmonger" Stevens, Michael B. Jordan, will be the name that everyone will be talking about (and rightfully so). His narrative is laid up in the prologue of the movie and becomes more clear as it goes along. Killmonger, as his name suggests, was reared in a violent environment and as a result uses violence in his actions. He is a crucial component of Coogler's narrative and offers more nuance than most of the Marvel bad guys we've seen. In many respects, Killmonger is the result of other people's decisions, and he is propelled by an internal cyclone of chaos, much of it directed against Wakanda.

You can tell Coogler wanted Jordan to be a scene-stealer because Jordan truly steals the show. The two had worked together on "Fruitvale" and "Creed," and they unquestionably share the same values. Here, the charismatic Jordan gives Killmonger a swagger and a tangible hatred that drives him to action. He is ultimately a misguided soul, but he is also sympathetic because he has more deeper motivations than the stereotypical desire for "global dominance".

Coogler has consistently displayed a strong interest in his characters in each of his movies, and this one is no exception. He also spends a lot of time seeing Wakanda as a gorgeous place brimming with aesthetic diversity and cultural attractiveness. The $200 million film's $200 million budget is best utilized by costume designer Ruth Carter and production designer Hannah Beachler. And Rachel Morrison's colorful camera vividly captures everything.

Even while I adored "Black Panther," there are a few lingering problems with it. There are numerous action moments, many of which are excellent. The movie only adheres to the standard Marvel format until the final battle, which features a large amount of CGI. While part of it is thrilling, the results aren't always what you would anticipate and even seem a little cartoonish. A few questions remain unsolved, and a few relationships left room for improvement. Small complaints in light of everything the film gets well.

As many have stated, "Black Panther" is a socially relevant film, and it does it without the use of blatant plot devices or preachy overtones. It is socially significant because it is. The best way to put it is that, even though it may sound a little trite. Setting, characters, and tensions in the movie all seem natural and genuine in the universe Coogler and team have created. The message and underlying concepts of the novel are firmly established and honestly addressed throughout the course of the narrative. Good filmmakers are capable of doing that.

In the end, "Black Panther" is a thrilling triumph not because analysts extolled its virtues or critics upheld it. Because of the incredible talents in front of and behind the camera that helped make it, it is a success and, hopefully, is enlightening viewers and filmmakers. Yet "Black Panther" is more than just a statement about culture. It's a great movie that inspires a community and a genre. Few films can claim that.
