Wow, alot to unpack on this movie. I want to say they did a great job in their Seattle shooting locations. They got the South Lake Union, Central and Ferry traffic just right.
This film was heavily marketed, and despite it's PG-13 limitations, it is a great film. As a former Seattle resident, I am appreciative of their location shots including the ferry and island footage. The horse scene is a bit hokey, but it was done on the ferry, which is scenic and accurate.
This film explores the dangerous mystery of a cursed VHS tape. Yes, we used VHS back in 2002, and we copied material like they did in this film. The fly extraction scene is one of the only scenes I remembered from this film, which I saw 22 years ago.
Definitely worth the watch. See it on YouTube for free.

I found it a bit cheesy at the time. I think I saw the sequel at some point. Cool that it showed some of Seattle though. I'm a Vancouver boy so I know that gray rainy coastal region.
Yeah, I loved visiting Vancouver. Beautiful city and Stanley Park is awesome. I have alot of great memories in these cities.
This film is a bit cheesy at times, but it's just done well. It's nostalgic, and if it had had an R rating it could have done more.
True. A bit weird to make a serious horror movie PG13, limiting certain aspects. It was indeed done better than a lot of films in the genre, especially the newer stuff which is often just nonsense.
