Hi Blurtians, Today would be the concluding part of our previous discussion on sore throat which was explained in one of the previous posts.
As a common saying goes; Prevention is better than Cure, yes it is actually quite realistic to say that 1001 times. But once the did is done there will be a need for treatment and remedy.
In a nutshell, once a person has caught up with a disease then there is a need for treatment which is the solution towards the comfort of the person in question.
Without much ado, let's go right away to the scope of this blog which is; Treatment of Sore Throat medical condition.
The necessary treatments for sore throat are as follows:
Treatment can be done using home remedies or medications
Home remedies includes gargling and warm water, that a pinch of salt added to warm water or let's say a half to full teaspoon of salt added to warm.
After the warm salt water is available then you gargle. So how do you gargle? . Gargling is done by allowing salt water to reach your throat by gently pouring it to the mouth without swallowing it so as to come in contact with the inflamed tissues of the throat for like 2 or 3 minutes after which you spit it out.
Other home remedies also include honey, though it should be a pure one by licking for like 2 to 3 times daily after taking like a hour break from drinking and eating.
Another home type remedy is mixture of warm water and lemon 🍋 is also used but in this case you drink it without any form of gargling and spitting out. This is so because lemon has some antimicrobial properties and as such it tends to work for sore throat.
Moreover, home remedies for people who raise their voice is that you try to rest your voice while you have sore throat. If you are a poet, commentator or a presenter you stay from such and you rest your voice and you can also apply the aforementioned home remedies but if there is no changes 2 to 5 days then you can go for medication.
Medications for sore throat include the following:
Paracetamol
Ibuprofen
Antibiotics ( for those caused by bacteria)
Lozenge
Some of the medications are easily accessible such as paracetamol, diclofenac and the rest but care must taken for people who have underlying diseases and are medically compromised with diseases such asthma, diabetes, ulcer among others. All these drugs can posse a serious threat if care is not taken due to drug reactions.
So, it is better to get your drugs in a place where you would guided on how to use them or at least an alternative would be provided if a particular drug is contraindicated for use. In a simple term try to avoid self medication for a you don't know much about its usage.
If these medications does not work, then it would be better to see a physician for thorough diagnosis and appropriate remedy with treatment.
In conclusion, some sore throat maybe cause gastroesophageal reflux digested food from the stomach. As for this case a normal antacids or some other anti-ulcer drug can be used to stop the production of stomach acids if it has become hyperacidic since it was the primary cause of the sore throat. Also it can be used in ulcer patients suffering from sore throats provided the sore throat is caused by the hyper secretion of the stomach acids which in turn was refluxed to esophagus during nausea or vomiting.
That is all as regards treatment for sore throats. Thanks for your usual support and feedbacks.
