JUST SAY SORRY

John came home hungry.

He woke up late and hurried to school without taking his breakfast. He didn’t want to be late to school. He hated that.

When he returned home, his mum, a nurse had gone to work and was yet to return home.

“What do I do now?” John questioned himself.

Few minutes later, the devil came from no where and poured poison into him. He remembered his dad always kept money in his closet. He went after the money.

Fast forward to 10 minutes later, John is eating some biscuits and freely sipping a juice box . 🧃 He’s having the fun of his life. Like night, hunger has disappeared and made way for strength. No one even knows where it’s gone too. No one cares.

Almost two hours later, John’s father returns and needs his money to pay for the taxi that has brought him home. He goes for his money but finds it not.

“Have you taken any money from my closet?” He questions his wife.
“I’ve not.” She retorts.

Both parents are confused. Money has never been stolen in their house before. This is alien.

John equally denied when he was questioned. He told lies.

Few minutes later, some juice boxes are found in John’s room.

“Where did you get money to buy all these?”
John opens his mouth to talk but no words come out. His parents feel betrayed. They are disappointed.

John felt bad too. Hunger had made him lose everything his parents had taught him since day 1. They would never believe him again. He decides to apologize and seek forgiveness.

“I’m very sorry daddy. I came home and didn’t see any food. I took the money because I was very hungry. I’ll never try it again.” John says amidst tears.

“It’s okay.” The father said.
Both parents look at John with pity and love. All the anger and sorrow disappears. There’s one big family again.

To be Sorry is to feel remorse and sorrow over an event you took part in. It is to be contrite and to express with regret, our actions.

Sorry is one very powerful tool that we all need to possess as individuals. It easily ends disputes and gives way for peace.

By saying sorry to someone we’ve offended, we regret our bad actions, and seek to be better people. We equally assure people around us that we’re remorseful and ready to change.

We should all learn to say sorry.

If we all learn to apologize by saying sorry to people we offend, the world would be better than it is.
