Hey all, I hope you are well.
Something interesting happened today.
I woke up to hear my mum say that there was an egg in my garden. So I went to investigate and surprise surprise, there was an egg.
It's a bit damaged but I thought to check the rest of the egg. However, when I picked it up it felt like something was in there. At the time I was messaging @ciderjunkie and he told me to go to a dark room and shine a torch to see if anything was in the egg. At first I grabbed a normal torch but couldn't see anything. So, out of curiosity I did a bit of research and watched a couple of YouTube videos, from my judgement I assume it's a pigeon egg.
In one of the YouTube videos I noticed that they used the flashlight from their mobile phone so I went back to the dark room and used my phone torch this time and I saw something in the egg floating around.
This could mean a variety of things.
- The embryo of the egg hasn't developed yet.
- The egg could be unfertilised
- The chick of the egg has died.
After further speaking to Ciderjunkie he gave me tips of what to do. I grabbed a cardboard box and an old T-shirt and placed the egg inside to keep it warm and safe. (I know I should use a heat lamp, but sadly I do not own one).
For the time being I will keep a close eye on the egg and try my best to keep it as warm as I can. I'll post updates to let you all know what happens.
Take care peeps, Hannianne! :)
