I'll keep this simple.
Move the voting time to the end of the payout period.
Why?
Two reasons
Allow others to curate for better rewards.
Reduce the chances of rewarding accidently abusive posts such as plagiarism before they get called out.
What does everyone think about that?

My understanding is there is no time sequence that manipulates the value of the vote, so it doesn't matter when anyone votes as long as it's 5 minutes after published and some amount of time I believe before it finishes its 7 day time frame. I believe I saw rycharde talk of this some time back.
The further out to the payout date the less rewards you get from curation. Its not entirely 50/50. Unless your a whale and vote big enough to have the rest of the marbles roll towards you.
