Yesterday marked the Winter Solstice.
We observe this day that's the shortest day and the longest night of the year, at least in the Northern Hemisphere.
For many centuries, if not millennia, people have been celebrating this day as the symbolic day marking the beginning of the return of the light. Depending on your tradition and cultural background, this day is often marked as a celebration of light.
In most western cultures the Solstice celebration is somewhat overshadowed by the observance of Christmas, a few days later. However, this is still a very important date in the calendar.
In the farming and growing calendar, it stands as "Midwinter," in direct opposition to "Midsummer."
Personally, I can't wait to see some longer days again! The prolonged darkness can be a challenge for many people, particularly those afflicted by Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).
Decided to give Blurt another try. There doesn't seem to be much content here relating to spirituality, self-development, consciousness building and the like, but maybe that can change.
Bright Blessings and Happy Solstice to all!
You are not alone!
