Do you believe that people change? (reasoning while walking)

Have you ever failed to recognize a person whom you thought you knew very well? How often have you told another that you didn't expect him or her to do this or that? It doesn't matter if you were pleasantly surprised or unpleasant.

What does this all mean? Does this mean that the person has changed? Or does it mean that you began to see him or her as they really are?

When we say that we are disappointed in a person, what does it mean? Does this mean that the person has changed? Or it means that we ourselves have created an illusion for ourselves and now this illusion has been destroyed. I am more inclined to think that the second is more correct.

It happens everywhere and all the time. Look at young couples a year after their wedding. Or even just a year after the start of the relationship. As soon as the novelty disappears in the relationship, we begin to see a lot in a person that we have not seen before. But does this mean that the person has changed?

But I must say that this is a natural process. And the problem is not that we begin to see a person differently. The problem is that, unfortunately, we often focus on something negative (from our subjective point of view) instead of looking for a new positive in a person we know. Why we do so?

The answer is very simple. We need emotion. They are like a battery that powers us. But getting negative emotions is easier than getting positive ones ... To get positive emotions you need to try, while to get negative emotions you need much less effort. Of course this sounds paradoxical! Who wants to get negative emotions? But the difficulty is that we often do it unconsciously.

And now our attitude towards a person has changed so much that we stop recognizing him or her ... And it seems to us that the person has changed dramatically. But, more often than not, this is not the case. It is not the person who has changed, but the position from which we look ...

At this point I left the forest and went home ...
