📷 Such an amazing Lucerne

Have a nice day! I will tell you about another city in Switzerland, and this city will be Lucerne. Lucerne is located on the shore of the lake, at the very foot of Mount Pilatus.

But I wanted to start the story with an unusual bridge that struck my imagination. The bridge is called Kapelbrücke, which means "Chapel Bridge".

As soon as I stepped on it, I felt like I was transported to medieval Switzerland. Probably, this feeling did not appear by chance, the bridge over the river Royce is really very old.

A little later, I learned that this is the oldest covered wooden bridge in all of Europe, and is a symbol of the city. It was built in 1365, the bridge is not very large, in length reaches only a little more than 200 meters.

However, it is noteworthy that there are many interesting pictures on the bridge, I have never seen such bridges before. And there are more than 100 paintings, and they are unusual, all triangular in shape, near each one you want to stop and look at everything in detail. The paintings depict important moments in the history of mountain Switzerland.

I was also struck by this high relief, located on a very steep rock ledge behind a beautiful pond, which is located in the very center of the city. For a long time I stood near this 9-meter statue, cut right into the rock in a 13-meter niche.

I still can't forget this "dying lion" resting on a shield with the image of a lily. On the face of the noble animal, the famous Danish sculptor Bertel Thorvaldsen captured almost human suffering.
Above the bas-relief you can see the inscription in Latin: HELVETIORUM FIDEI AC VIRTUTI
"Loyalty and courage of the Swiss". And the numbers 760 and 350 correspond to the number of fallen and surviving soldiers. At the foot, right in the rock, are carved the names of soldiers and officers who gave their lives for the Motherland.
I was surprised by many things in this city, but most of all I was interested in one ancient legend, they say that:

...When God created the world, he sent an angel to pour water into all the lakes. Flying over the Alps, the angel held a vessel of water in his hands, but accidentally hit one of the mountain peaks, and the water poured out on the valley. At this place there was an unusually beautiful lake, the shape of which resembles a cross.

This is the famous Firvaldstetskoe lake, you will agree that the beauty is unusual! True, the water in it is very cold, but this did not prevent the touching ducks and graceful swans from basking in the purest mountain water. You can also take a boat trip on a cozy boat on the lake, and enjoy all its beauty firsthand.

I also fell in love with these streets. Cleanliness, beauty, comfort, birds sing even in the early morning, and compared to Venice, there are much fewer tourists. I really liked Lucerne, and if I ever return to Switzerland, it will be to Lucerne, which is rightly considered the most beautiful city in Switzerland. I also advise you to see the types of Alfalfa on the video:

I have a Sony DX-60 camera, and all photos are taken in auto mode.
