The story behind my "Art"

Written by my friend Deiv Iwok

My late mother was an artist, so basically I inherited the trait from her, I started drawing when I was very little, she would teach me to hold the pencil, and to draw objects like cup, table, chair. My mom was the first to show me some of rules of achieving proportions, and some shading techniques.

As I got older, I started drawing my favorite animes like Avatar, Naruto, Cinderella from my imaginations, and even life drawings of my siblings and friends in school. The back pages of every note book I ever owned in secondary school had a full dose of my addiction.

But when I would even draw at the back of my examination paper, the adults around me back then concluded it was a problem, and I was pressured to stop the madness. They couldn't see that was my whole life.

"Art is for beggars, study a course in university that'll give you a good paying job when you graduate." And I obeyed.

But passion doesn't die.

After several years, I came across an incredible drawing on the internet, it was so unbelievably beautiful and very realistic that it reignited the desire in me again. I wanted to draw again.

Against all limitations, I bought my first set of pencils. I began watching tutorials online on how to draw human portraits with utmost perfection, and since I wasn't studying fine art in the university, I made friends with students in the department, and exactly this time last year, I got accepted in an art gallery.

I may still be a broke artist now, but I know someday this gift will make way for me. I'm intentional about my growth and consistency and I won't give it up.

Today is exactly one year I made the decision to live the rest of my life as an artist.

Happy Anniversary to Me.

Nice work I know people would vote it well if you did some time lapses or steps to your drawings. Then post on #blurtart. Just dont let people have any doubt you are the artist, show yourself with your work whatever you need to do.
