This is really starting to sound like "confusion management".
This is a subset of perception management whereby the dissenting voices are almost included but merely to emasculate them.
This is putting a signal through a noise filter so that most people will not perceive that the signal is still there.
"Trust those who you don't trust" is the height of doublethink.
Pay attention to the keywords: leadership, institutions, heterodoxy.
Eric Weinstein is also selling the idea of Schelling points. This idea comes from game theory and is similar to a Nash equilibrium with the twist that, in the absence of communication, some choices appear "special" for reasons outside the game itself. Essentially, some choices appear as defaults due to social priming.
The "believe the science" meme is a current abuse of a Schelling point, in that most people don't know any science and therefore have little choice but to believe what is presented to them, in this case by people and institutions in authority, and hence the default posture is to do as one is told - even if that science is wrong.
Before even seeking confirmation bias on the internet, just imagine the mental processes when confronted with various scientific pronouncements on mainstream media. The contrarian, heterodox, views are not even given oxygen, hence don't even appear on most mental landscapes, except for possibly a deeply buried No-No Land.
What is ominous about Eric's stance is that he thinks that current leaders have managed the whole plandemic badly and yet the institutions they represent still contain some collective wisdom. This is very difficult to justify as one key indicator of a psychopathic tyranny is precisely the take-over of institutions so that they do the opposite of what they were originally designed for.
This is, however, a clear warning; those leaders-in-waiting will herald a false dawn - the tyranny will not stop, it will just appear as the default option. Only a few minds will see through this.
