This is winter. It's so cold outside. How is the weather over there?
Now you wear warm clothes. So will you wear the same clothes in summer? No, you will not. You adapt to the environment and you wear clothes accordingly. We see and feel what we need to do with changing weather.
When you fight, it is not like do this or do that, you are done. There is no magic formula or you will press somewhere in the body and you will win in the fight. And what will happen in a fight you cannot predict that before.
That's the reason, you cannot plan for the fight. You just don't know what the attacker is going to do to attack you. You can have a strategy. And adapting to your opponent is one of the strategies.
You see some techniques work very well against the opponent. But that might not be effective for everyone. You make your move and strike, but the attacker does something to redirect your force or defend that and counter-attack.
You have to be in the water to practice swimming. If you never do sparring with your training partner, you will have no idea what's going on in a fight. When you attack your opponent, you can see what he does as a response and how he makes his move.
If you learn to adapt and make his move against him, he might get surprised. Now you strike him the way he is striking. The quicker you adapt to your opponent, the better. And if you do that, you will be unstoppable in a fight.
