FLOWERS TO BRIGHTEN YOUR WEEKEND/FLORES PARA ALEGRAR TU FIN DE SEMANA

Regrettably it has been a couple weeks since I published a post here on Blurt. I was able to finally get everything put up for the winter. It was a rush because we had a storm coming. We ended up receiving 7 inches of snow (17.78 centimeters). Then to get even better the temperature dropped below freezing. It was the earliest that I remember receiving snow, and the below freezing temperatures were also early. It finally started to warm up during the day and some of the snow remains. I enjoy it when it snows, but this was too early for me.

Lamentablemente han pasado un par de semanas desde que publiqué un post aquí en Blurt. Finalmente pude conseguir todo lo necesario para el invierno. Fue un apuro porque se avecinaba una tormenta. Terminamos recibiendo 7 pulgadas de nieve (17,78 centímetros). Luego, para mejorar aún más, la temperatura bajó por debajo del punto de congelación. Now that it is winter I am getting to get my wood-shop picked up more. I now have good lighting and installed a wood-stove my son-in-law made for me. It is also time for me to get my plant room cleaned up. I never did get to the remodeling I had planned for the plant room, so for now I will still start with growing some micro-greens. I might be able to start the remolding this winter I will share a couple of photos of some things I have growing already as I get into the photograph section of this publications.

Ahora que es invierno, voy a conseguir que mi taller de carpintería sea más frecuentado. Ahora tengo buena iluminación e instalé una estufa de leña que mi yerno hizo para mí. As I am cleaning up my plant room I am considering growing some Chinese cabbage (Bok Choy) using my hydroponics unit. Many of the vegetables I used to grow during the winter months hydroponically I can now grow as micro-greens. If I use some of the space for hydroponics then it may motivate me to begin with the remodel. These plans are to have more space to grow potted plants, hydroponics, and micro-greens. Most years I am able to grow enough greens for the household and share excess with my daughter. My expansion plans should give us more variety.

Mientras estoy limpiando mi cuarto de plantas estoy considerando cultivar un poco de col china (Bok Choy) usando mi unidad de hidroponía. Muchos de los vegetales que solía cultivar durante los meses de invierno en hidroponía ahora puedo cultivarlos como micro-verduras. Si utilizo parte del espacio para la hidroponía entonces puede motivarme a comenzar con la remodelación. Estos planes son para tener más espacio para cultivar plantas en maceta, hidroponía y micro-verduras. La mayoría de los años puedo cultivar suficientes verdes para la casa y compartir el exceso con mi hija. Mis planes de expansión deberían darnos más variedad.

Before I get too far into this publication I want to share with you a tomato plant that I grew indoors, under lights all summer long. It is in the background. In front of it is another tomato plant that I started from a cutting on the first one. I have a couple of nice cuttings that are already blooming. This tomato plant was developed for container growing. It is a cherry tomato, and the plant does not get very tall. I have some more cuttings growing, and they should be rooted by now so i can put them in larger containers. The one in the forefront will be transplanted into a larger pot soon. The original plant has set blossoms for the third time. Some of you may live in climates where growing such plants in the winter is not a big deal, but where I live tomatoes will not be growing outside until June and then most will not have ripe fruit until August. So I am excited to be able to grow these indoors. I have two more varieties I will be trying, but for now I will stay with what is working.

Antes de entrar en esta publicación, quiero compartir con ustedes una planta de tomate que crecí en el interior, bajo luces durante todo el verano. Está en el fondo. Delante de ella hay otra planta de tomate que empecé con un corte en la primera. Tengo un par de bonitos esquejes que ya están floreciendo. Esta planta de tomate fue desarrollada para el cultivo de contenedores. Es un tomate cereza, y la planta no es muy alta. Tengo algunos esquejes más creciendo, y ya deberían estar enraizados para poder ponerlos en contenedores más grandes. El que está en primer plano será transplantado a una maceta más grande pronto. La planta original ha puesto flores por tercera vez. Algunos de ustedes pueden vivir en climas en los que cultivar estas plantas en invierno no es gran cosa, pero donde yo vivo los tomates no crecerán en el exterior hasta junio y entonces la mayoría no tendrá frutos maduros hasta agosto. Así que estoy emocionado de poder cultivarlos en el interior. Tengo dos variedades más que intentaré, pero por ahora me quedaré con lo que está funcionando.

This next flower is an African violet that is grown as a houseplant. I take many photos of it, but struggle to get a clear photograph the bright blue. This is one of my better attempts.

La siguiente flor es una violeta africana que se cultiva como planta de interior. Tomo muchas fotos de ella, pero me cuesta conseguir una fotografía clara el azul brillante. Este es uno de mis mejores intentos.

Here is a Swallowtail Butterfly I was able to photograph a couple of years ago. I believe I shared a similar photo of it on one of the other platforms in the past.

Where would one of my publications be without a photo of a rose? I have no idea if I have shared this rose anywhere else. I hope you enjoy it. An afterthought: I was able to bring into my garage a pot with 3 miniature roses. I am hoping they will flower this winter like they did last year.

My final photograph I took this morning of one of my Orchids. I only have two and continue learning to grow them. This particular one I was able to get to bloom twice this year. I have another one that I cannot seem to get it to bloom. I love the coloring in this one.

I spent a lot of time since my last publication muting and blocking people that were not "playing fair" on the Blurt platform. As many know I like to vote on comments left on my publications. I am using a Canon EOS Rebel T5 for most photographs, except where noted. I do have an older PowerShot Canon camera that I use from time to time. Wildlife is usually taken by a stationary trail camera that takes photos based on motion.
