Brief description of the daily life in the personal quarantine.

Finishing another work week, today is Friday, although according to the calendar it is not just any Friday, it turns out that it is Friday of the Council or Friday of Dolores, according to the Catholic calendar that is usually used in #Venezuela, we are in the prelude to the so-called Week Holy or Week of the Passion and Death of Christ. In short, it is an important religious date.
We have completed 756 days since the #quarantine was announced for the #covid19 #pandemic in this country, but, despite the fact that there is no official declaration of lifting the security measures, today it seems that a good part of the population is not paying attention to such recommended security measures to reduce the risk of contagion. It is incredible that we humans get used to everything and, in the long run, from living with a risk so much, we forget about that risk and when it explodes we are amazed, as if we were idiots and did not know what that latent risk could to explode at any moment, like people who get used to living in a land that suffers from floods every few decades and when everything collapses due to the rains, then the population is left as if they had forgotten that this was something that happens periodically.
Anyway, today I was looking for what there was for #history, and I found many things, but I chose one that caught my attention: Today, in 1820, in #Greece, the Venus de Milo, a Greek sculpture in marble blocks, depicting the goddess Aphrodite, is today on display in the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Milo thing is because of the name of the island where it was found.
The sculpture is very famous and has several stories associated with it, but what caught my attention is that despite how variable the concept of beauty is and what is attractive or repulsive, it must be admitted that, for my taste, this sculpture embodies an ideal of female beauty that is pleasing to me today. It makes me think that in my cultural roots, from the Western world, the strong heritage left by Greek culture and its weight in what are our canons of beauty is very noticeable.
Speaking of personal things, I must say that it was a calm day, without many shocks, only the common electrical failures, the "normal" lack of piped water, absence of urban sanitation service and domestic gas... but apart from those things that are every day here, nothing unusual happened, that's a good thing, at least there is no abrupt worsening of the personal situation, that's enough to be thankful for the day in this context :) Well, I hope you are well and that we can read each other another time.

Terminando otra semana laboral, hoy es viernes, aunque según el calendario no es un viernes cualquiera, resulta que es Viernes de Concilio o Viernes de Dolores, según el calendario Católico que se suele usar en #Venezuela, estamos en la antesala de la llamada Semana Santa o Semana de la Pasión y Muerte de Cristo. En fin, es una fecha religiosa importante.
Hemos cumplido 756 días desde que se anunció la #cuarentena por la #pandemia de #covid19 en este país, pero, a pesar de que no hay una declaración oficial de levantamiento de las medidas de seguridad, hoy en día parece que buena parte de la población no está haciendo caso de tales medidas de seguridad recomendadas para disminuir el riesgo de contagio. Es increíble que los humanos nos acostumbramos a todo y, a la larga, de tanto convivir con un riesgo, nos olvidamos de ese riesgo y cuando nos estalla nos quedamos asombrados, como si fuéramos idiotas y no supiéramos de qué ese riesgo que estaba latente podría explotar en cualquier momento, como la gente que se acostumbra a vivir en un terreno que sufre inundaciones cada cierta cantidad de décadas y cuando todo se viene abajo por las lluvias, entonces la población se quedan como si hubieran olvidado que eso era algo que sucede periódicamente.
En fin, hoy estaba buscando que había para la #historia, y me encontré con muchas cosas, pero elegí una que me llamó la atención: Hoy, en 1820, en #Grecia, se desentierra la Venus de Milo, escultura griega en bloques de mármol que representa a la diosa Afrodita, se encuentra hoy en día en exhibición en el Museo del Louvre en París. Lo de Milo es por el nombre de la isla en donde se encontró.
La escultura es bien famosa y tiene varias historia asociadas, pero lo que me llamó la atención es que a pesar de lo variable que es el concepto de belleza y de lo que resulta atractivo o repulsivo, hay que admitir que, para mi gusto, esta escultura encarna un ideal de belleza femenina agradable para mi actualidad. Me hace pensar que en mi raíz cultural, del mundo occidental, se nota mucho la fuerte herencia que dejó la cultura griega y su peso en lo que son nuestros cánones de belleza.
Hablando de cosas personales, debo decir que fue un día calmado, sin muchos sobresaltos, solamente las fallas eléctricas comunes, la carencia "normal" de agua por tubería, ausencia de servicio de Aseo urbano y de gas doméstico... pero fuera de esas cosas que acá son cotidianas, no sucedió nada inusual, eso es algo bueno, por lo menos no hay un abrupto empeoramiento de la situación personal, ya eso es suficiente como para estar agradecido del día en este contexto :) Bueno, espero que tú estés bien y que nos podamos leer en otra oportunidad.
