Su presentación fue en la Feria Internacional Americana del Juguete en Nueva York, su nombre completo era Barbara Millicent Roberts, este nombre se inspiró en el nombre de la hija de la empresaria que la estaba lanzando, Ruth Handler, esposa del cofundador de la empresa de juguetes Mattel, Elliot Handler. Hay que decir que la polémica ha estado con esta muñeca desde sus inicios, pues originalmente el tener una muñeca que no parecía un bebe ni una niña pequeña era algo muy raro, pensar en una muñeca que tenía proporciones y rasgos que se acercaban más a una mujer adulta fue algo revolucionario y trajo mucha oposición, sumemos a eso que si bien se dijo que la inspiración de su creación era en las "muñecas de papel para vestir" que se podían conseguir en revistas, cartillas y cajas de cereales, la cosa es que su inspiración directa era una muñeca alemana, "Bild Lilli", que era producida para una compañía de tabaco y era asociada con chistes picantes y con público adulto masculino...
Bueno, la pareja de empresarios compró los derechos de manufactura e imagen de Bild Lilli y se encargaron de que no se produjera ninguna más, luego lanzaron su propia muñeca con una estética similar, pero fueron atrevidos, resulta que la muñeca estaba ataviada con un traje de baño de rayas, todo un atrevimiento para la época. Bueno, la muñeca que conocemos en décadas recientes no es muy cercana a la original en varias cosas, por ejemplo, las primeras Barbies no sonreían, sus ojos estaban viendo hacia un lado y no eran exclusivamente rubias, había morenas, rubias y de cabello castaño (llegando a tonos que eran más bien pelirrojas)

Hay un montón de curiosidades sobre esta #polémica #muñeca, muchas de ellas las leí en 40 Surprising Things You Probably Didn't Know About Barbie. Tales como el que su color lila de su estuche y su logotipo, es un color ya asignado en la actualidad en Pentone, es como cuando le dices a un experto en colores que quieres un objeto en Negro Malayo o un adorno en Azul Cobalto, bueno, sucede que puedes decir que deseas un toque de Lila Barbie ¡y ese color existe!

La revisión de la #Historia para la bitácora de hoy fue entretenida. Reportando ahora cosas personales, debo decir que fue un hermoso día aburrido y tranquilo, la calma reinó en mi día y los servicios de electricidad y de telefonía trabajara lo suficientemente bien como para que yo pudiera trabajar en un par de cosas, de verdad que me gustó mi día y me gustaría que estos tipos de días fueran mucho más frecuentes.
