Sardine Rush

It was a fine morning with a cloudy weather and I brought KitKat, my Bullmatian companion dog for three years, to have a walk along the seashore.

Then we spotted a fisherman aboard a raft made of PVC pipe approaching the shore as he finished casting his gill net in the water.

As we move further to the north of the shoreline, a familiar voice called me up and it turned out that the fisherman is a friend of mine that I haven't seen for months and I wasn't able to recognize him because of the hooded shirt he wore at that time and he told me to go to the makeshift sheds where he and other fishermen stay before and after their fishing activity.

It was then that I learned that the fishermen have a very abundant catch of sardines at that time and my fisherman friend called me up to give me some of their catch!

At the premises of the makeshift sheds, from adults to children, everyone is busy tending the nets and sorting out their catch and I saw their happy faces while they do their respective tasks.

Sardines are one of the most common fishes in my place and they come in abundance at a given period of the year sometimes during rainy days or even in fair weather and these fishes are mostly known to people in their canned form than in their fresh and dried state as most called them in their common name "tamban" for the Tagalogs and "baramban" for the Ilocanos while the dried ones are called "tuyo" in most Filipino dialects while "bulad" or "buwad" to the Visayans.

In short, in most cases, only few people know that sardines is a species of fish as many referred to it as canned goods just like when they say "tuna sardines" as there might be two kinds of fish inside the can but in reality, it is canned tuna.

That's all for now and again, thanks for reading my humble content.

Indeed a delicious fish especially when it is freshly caught. Also that bulad thing, I love the smell of a fried or grilled bulad! Gi-prito ug gi-sugbang tamban na bulad, kalami kaayo!🤗❤️👍
