It's been 3+ years for me on the Steem blockchain from where Blurt has emerged and most of you all know that I have been very regular here, almost every single day. I ideally take a break every 4th to 5th day and in this time also allow my voting power to get back to 100%
I remember in the very first days I was not aware of the voting power concept and I would just go ahead and keep voting almost every post and then someone highlighted to me about my VP power status. It was as low as 20%, not that it really mattered also at that point of time, since my account had no value and even at 100% VP the value would be hardly .01
From day 1 I have been following manual curation, and this has been my regular habit. I have never followed the auto vote system. In between I joined some communities where they insisted I joined their curation trail. I did it for a week or so, but somewhere I was not comfortable with it. So I got myself out from there.
There is nothing wrong, rather it is very convenient and you will not miss out on voting your community members, but somewhere I like the personal touch.
Being honest sometimes I just briefly go through the post and vote and some I miss reading also. But at large I make it a point to give a glimpse to the post.
Personally, the one most important benefit I see in manual curation is keeping in touch with your circle. In these Covid times I see suddenly people disappearing. Someone who is very regular, suddenly seems to be offline. I do make it a point to check out on those people. Whenever someone is away for more then a week, I would like to send them a note checking on them. I have developed a good bond with many people on this platform and it matters to me if someone somewhere is not in the right state and if I can be of any help to them.
Manual curation helps me keep a track, but yes I cannot do it for everyone, this is for my close circle with who I have grown in this journey. We are just not here to support each other by giving our votes but when required be there for each other in other ways also. If nothing much then atleast check on them and show our care for each other. We all need it right?
The other benefits of manual curation are also there, one being equal distribution of votes and on daily basis I also keep some bandwidth to promote new people. As my circle is growing I am also finding it challenging to cope up, but I will do it as long as I can with the manual curation only.
So what are your thoughts on manual curation?

Manual Curation is the best. Blurt is the best.
True, manual curation has lot of advantages
Hmm. Moreover, manual curation helps you to get to meet more authors thereby other authors with undervalued posts can be reached to as well.
Absolutely, there is a lot of knowledge that one can gain when one goes in for manual curation. Thank you
