It's not Mother's Day, but I want to write something on my Mom. It's been more than 1 and a half year that I have met her and I am missing her a lot. My mom is 79 years old, and I see that she wants to be active all the time. I see she always tries to keep herself busy, not only physically but mentally also. She loves to play games on the mobile phone and keeps sneaking out time in the day to play her games, which I find it little funny and I also tell her Mom it's not good for your eyes, so she replies back saying, Mind your own business.....hahaha.
She is very fond of cooking and she keeps exploring youtube for new recipes and then prepares it. Lucky my sister, because she stays with her family and she gets all the good things Mom makes.
The other hobby she has is of maintaining a diary, where time to time, she comes up with something new to write in the diary. No wonder, I have the writing skills from her. She is a very creative person and always tries to keep her mind active and working sharply.
Some memories captured from my last visit to her
\
She was a teacher all her life so her mind is always working in this direction. But I really liked this idea of her how she keeps her mind active with different innovative exercises that she keeps inventing by herself. One time she started making notes of similar words - homonyms, like Mail - Male, New - Knew. I would tell her, that nowadays we have google for everything, and she will tell me, make your mind like google so that you do not have to depend on anything external. Dementia is one major problem in old age and such activity can help prevent decline of mental ability.
She is very soft spoken and looks timid on the face, but if someone presses her wrong nerve that person will get it. With me she has always been the soft mom. In our growing up I did not live with her, so I do miss those childhood moments of daughter and mother, and guess she also feels the same.
She is a person full of positive attitude and very chirpy and fun loving. When I get that old, I just wish that I have the same attitude towards life like her. She has been through very tough times in her life, but she never cries about it or ever complains about it and for that I have huge huge respect for her.
Some months ago when my sister family all were down with Covid, we were most worried for her, because she is the oldest and fragile, but she would kept telling me, don't worry, I look fragile but I am very strong, and with good grace she has been safe all through out. She is a very strong lady at mind is what I can say.
Keeping physically and mentally active at old age is so very important. I don't know how it will be with me, but I will surely keep all these learning's from my mother for my old age. I always feel that it is good to have elderly people at home, they can teach us so much from their experience of life and that's the best way of learning, because they teach us through their experience.
I do not know when I will get to meet her, but I hope it just happens soon now, there is some travel ease so that I can travel and meet my family.
Thank you for visiting my blog. 👼🏻👼🏻💖💖🌹🌺🌸
