Someone asked me why I am tough. Tough like, I don't break down despite the problems, being sick, family issues, being a single mom, etc. It got me to think deep and hard. Yes, I am tough, but it actually does not mean that I do not break down. Sometimes, I need to be broken for a bit and feel everything and think deeply about the situation but it does not end there. I think it is needed that we feel the hurt, the suffering and then we move towards another state to conquer it, to heal. We should not dwell in that darkness, it is something that you are not meant to stay there for so long. You need to think and slowly crawl out of it and be better.
I gave him an answer, I told him about my dad who taught me chess when I was 5. My dad told me tough people play chess and I believe it. Chess is a mind game that let's you appreciate how powerful your mind is. You never win chess because of luck, you win chess because you did good thinking. Even a person with a broken leg can play chess and still win it. You have your mind, you use it. That is how you become tough. You employ common sense and deep thinking.
