Who is the White Lady - The Woman in White
It is said to be the spirit of a young 16-year-old girl, daughter of Prince Leon from the Sapieha family. Her name was Zosia. The whole story is a romantic unfulfilled love where the girl's parents forced her to marry a man other than the one she loved. Then she ran to the castle tower and jumped out of it. She died on the spot and since then her spirit has been wandering around the castle in search of unfulfilled love.
A brief history of the castle
The castle in Krasiczyn is the most beautiful symbol of the Polish Renaissance. It is situated near Sanok and Przemyśl. The construction of the castle began in the 16th century, and was initiated by the castellan of Przemyśl - Stanisław Krasicki. Later, the construction was continued by Marcin Krasicki, who turned the defensive castle into a magnificent residence.
The castle did not have an easy history, it was affected by fires and wars, but nevertheless remained almost intact. The structure is based on a quadrilateral with four towers at the corners, which are called: Divine, Papal, Royal and Knight towers respectively.
The legend of the White Lady
It is said that the White Lady wanders at night in the corridors of the castle. Dressed in a white dress with a veil. Sometimes she is alone, sometimes she is accompanied by a butler, both figures are blurred, slightly transparent, blurred. They always head to the castle courtyard
Another story of a white lady
Legend has it that Zosia did not jump from the tower, but died at the age of 16 as a result of illness. She was buried in the castle chapel in the God's Tower in a sarcophagus made of very expensive marble. The lid of the sarcophagus was decorated with the image of the deceased. The work survived until World War II.
