Red-capped scaber stalk in a cap born
In the photo above, I present the next stages of growth of this lovely mushroom. From a small baby with a head resembling a swimming cap, or the tip of a match, to the mature period, where the hat is already open.
The period when the red billy goat resembles a match lasts quite a long time. It can grow to several centimeters, and the hat remains undeveloped. thus, it stands out from other species of fungi from the Red-capped family.
The cap of this mushroom can reach a diameter of up to 20 cm. It has a lovely reddish brown color, sometimes rusty to brick red.
When he is young, and it takes quite a long time, the hat has a spherical, semicircular shape, it develops with age and becomes semicircular, cushion-shaped.
The surface of the hat is dry, matte and velvety to the touch.
The tubes of this fungus have a white color in youth, with time they become grayish, yellowish, when damaged, they turn brown-purple. The pores look and behave similarly.
The leg is very long, cylindrical in shape, white in color with white villi. Over time, the villi become orange, reddish. The leg can reach up to 15 cm in length.
The flesh is white in color, dense, fleshy and darkens gray and bluish when cut. It has a delicate mushroom flavor and aroma.
The fungus grows only under poplar and aspen with which it mycorrates. Popular in Central Europe and North America. You can meet him in Poland from June to October.
It is a very tasty edible mushroom. Suitable for drying, soups, various sauces. This beautiful, edible mushroom is a frequent guest in my kitchen. Due to the hard consistency of the flesh, even after cooking, it is perfect for vinegar marinade. Marinated in vinegar. It fits perfectly as an appetizer with good, frozen vodka.
Enjoy 😉
