A trip around Indonesia took us to the island of Lombok. We moved to Kuta. It was supposed to be the best surfing spot in the area. And so it was. Giant waves and lots of local youth with boards. I was going to learn to surf, but when I saw young people warming up freely doing splits, I gave up the idea.
Indonesia, Lombok island - Kuta. It is famous for its beautiful beaches and lush vegetation. Some say the beaches are prettier than those in Bali. I agree with them.
On some beaches in Lombok there is sand in the form of sharp balls. It has a consistency of granules composed mainly of corals and shell particles, not silicon. As we go, we sink into our ankles, so it's not very pleasant. And sometimes painfully. Although the other side we have a natural, free peeling.
You need a lot of strength, courage and skill to face the 10-meter waves. For this Indonesian youth, surfing is a lifetime. Almost all of these young boys and girls have some sort of memento in the form of a scar on their body. Big waves are created where there is a rocky reef. Contact with these rocks is very painful.
We had the opportunity to see the exercises of the Indonesian army, we felt like on a film set of some war production.
Unlike crowded Bali, the beaches on Lombok Island are less frequented. You can easily find a piece of beach just for yourself, away from the hustle and bustle and crowds of tourists.
