This mushroom does not have a separate cap, it is usually spherical. It is very small, the maximum diameter is only about 2 cm. Color grayish, dirty white, yellowish white.
the outer sheath (exoperidium) consists of 6 lobes, sometimes eight and sometimes even 12 lobes flared outwards forming a star pattern. The inner sheath (endoperidium) is usually spherical, the size of a small coin, thin gray-white, ocher-brown in color.
A characteristic feature of this mushroom are calcium oxalate crystals covering its surface.
Occurrence: The smallest starfish is a thermophilic fungus and grows in limestone-rich soils. It can be found on the sands, at the edges of forests, both in the mountains and in the lowlands. Usage: inedible mushroom
