This is a rare case of the canine fungus that is edible. It mainly parasitizes on the fruiting bodies of the warty and common marsh.
The cap of the bay bolete is gray-yellow, olive-gray, and often resembles its host. At first, it is semicircular, cushion-shaped, and may flatten with age. The surface is suede, sometimes cracked, dry. It can be up to 9 cm in diameter.
The tubes are mostly yellow, and the pores can also become rusty over time.
The leg is gray-yellow, up to 6 cm high, has fine hairs, and is full in the middle.
The flesh is almost the same color as the leg, the taste and smell are delicate, mushroom.
Occurrence. The fungus is very rare, it is partially protected in Poland. It mainly grows on the common trout from summer to autumn. Application. Edible mushroom.
