You have no knowledge and experience? Don't pick up!

Most of people associate the word fly agaric with a poisonous mushroom. And rightly so, let it stay that way, because not everyone should collect toadstools. There are many edible and very tasty species of toadstools, but they are reserved for seasoned and experienced mushroom pickers. I do not recommend, even advise against collecting toadstools to people with little experience and knowledge about them. I present the first edible toadstool - the Caesar's mushroom (Amanita caesarea). |

The mushroom as a young individual is spherical or ovoid in shape and is completely covered with a white membrane. With time, when it grows up (hatches from the egg), the cover breaks and the cap of the fungus, still ovoid, appears on the surface. It becomes convex with age and finally becomes flat. The color range of the fly agaric is quite wide, from yellow to red-orange with different shades. The diameter of the cap of an adult mushroom can be up to 20 cm.

The gills are yellowish, sometimes golden in color, quite dense and wide. The flesh is white, has a pleasant smell and taste.

The leg can be up to 20 cm high and 3 cm thick. Equal, cylindrical, cylindrical in shape. There is a characteristic ring on the leg, and at the bottom, at the base of the leg, there is a white bulbous scabbard from which the fungus emerged. The color of the leg is yellowish, golden yellow.

Occurrence. The species of this fungus can be found from summer to autumn, mostly in deciduous forests under oaks, on calcareous soils. The mushroom likes heat, so it is most often found in southern Europe. It occurs rarely in Central Europe.

Usage: Edible mushroom very tasty. This mushroom was known and appreciated by the ancient Romans and a favorite among the early rulers of the Roman Empire - hence the name Caesar's mushroom.
