A gigantic abandoned, unfinished castle, built for millions in the times of the Polish People's Republic, stands in the middle of a forest, in a Landscape Park, like the School of Witchcraft and Wizardry at Hogwarts.
The construction of this castle began in 1984, that is, at a time when communist parties were in power in the People's Republic of Poland. At that time, there was still the USSR, DDR. The originator was a Gdańsk sculptor, woodcarver, furniture manufacturer and visionary.
The Polish state (PRL) then issued a permit to the sculptor from Gdańsk to build a house with an art studio, as it turned out later in the middle of a landscape park.
The sculptor planned the construction from an early childhood, and the furniture factory he created as an adult, and the funds flowing from it, allowed him to implement this crazy plan.
Only in 1991, when the owner had to erect an additional technical building, the authorities realized during the inspection that it was not an ordinary house with an art studio. An art studio built on over 5,000,000 square meters? It must be admitted that it took the communist authorities some time, because almost 7 years. Construction has been suspended.
The designer of this castle had a vision of a perfect building. There were supposed to be beautiful chambers, a garden, observation towers, lounges decorated with coffers and even an indoor swimming pool.
The whole idea was a copy of the concept of the Krzyżtopór Ossoliński castle. It was also full of symbolism, because it has 365 windows as many days a year, 52 chambers as many weeks a year, 12 towers - as many as months a year and apostles (in the Catholic faith).
It now looks like a castle from fantasy movies. Despite the fact that it was slightly devastated, because there are graffiti, inscriptions and other bochomases everywhere, it has become a tourist attraction. In the spring and autumn season, crowds of tourists come there. It is the favorite place of Urban Explorers. Despite the passage of over 40 years, the castle is in good condition and suitable for continuing construction. After many years of efforts, he was given the green light to complete the construction. Will this ever happen? Will there be an investor? Time will tell.
