Hat reaches a diameter of 3 cm, rarely larger. In young fruiting bodies it is convex and becomes flat with age. Intense scarlet, red color clearly visible. The edge of the hat is slightly rolled up and has a lighter - orange, yellowish color.
Leg usually cylindrical in shape, but sometimes also flattened - up to 3 cm high, has an intense red, scarlet color, is smooth and dry, up to several mm thick.
The flesh of the mushroom is orange, yellow, light yellow, it is quite delicate and brittle, the smell is imperceptible and the taste is mild, mushroom. The gills are cream, yellow, light orange in color, the closer to the hat, the darker it is. Thick but seldom apart.
Occurrence - As the name suggests, the fungus likes an environment where there is a lot of moisture, i.e. meadows, peat bogs, the banks of ponds, water reservoirs. It can also be found in moss. Most often it grows in small groups. It appears in July and usually grows until October. Listed in North America, Asia and Europe, including Poland. Value: inedible mushroom.
