In the environment of people fascinated with mushrooms, we call it "Flamulinka", but the name Płomiennica Zimowa also has a justified origin. It is a mushroom that looks like a smoldering fire in a gray winter forest, stands out from the winter surroundings, radiates a warm color, very positively.

The hat can be multi-colored, from pale pink to orange and even red. The size varies even up to 12-15 cm in diameter. The hat is smooth to the touch, slightly convex, becoming flat and even curled with age.

The gills are situated quite rarely, in terms of color similar to the cap. The leg is very distinctive and allows you to recognize the specimen by its color. It is up to 10-15 cm long and has a characteristic coloration (velvet-molar wintering). With the hat, the color of the leg is similar to a mushroom, but the closer to the root the leg becomes darker, almost dark blue, navy blue, black.

And when there is a different, still warm autumn light, I can be almost red;)

The flesh is most often white, sometimes cream. Very delicate mushroom flavor and aroma.

Occurrence. A common tree mushroom. If you like walking in the woods in winter, chances are you will encounter this species of mushroom. It appears in late autumn and grows all winter. The fungus is frost-resistant and has healing properties.

Application - very tasty mushroom, only hats, legs are stringy. Winter flame (Flammulina velutipes) contains substances that strengthen the immune system. The antibiotic flammulin has been isolated from Flammulina velutipes, which helps to fight sarcoma S 180.
