Last week I wrote a bit about one of my colleagues who departed this world way too early. And since we work in hospitals this is actually kind of a weird situation because death is all around us here on a daily basis. But just now with this happening to one of our own, this makes it really different and you see people having very different emotions with this.
That is a bit of the difficult thing here when you are in a 24/7 functioning company. The show must go on, and the stars of the show (the patients) cannot know and feel that something is going on. They aren’t here voluntarily, and they also shouldn’t notice something is different or have to carry the burden of this. But this is a bit of a task naturally as people are grieving and we borrowed some staff from other departments. Better said, other departments offered to lend us their staff and that is really cool. That is what taking care of each other really means.
And that is the good thing with nowadays technology. Live streams are being sent out with funerals , which means that people who are not capable of actually heading towards the funeral still have their moment to send their respects and be a part of the ceremony, even though not physically there. That is perfect in a company where everything must continue but people have the option to pop in for a bit. I was happy with how everything was set up and how it all went, but drained on how everything felt.
But feeling drained is for tomorrow again. For today, the show must go on…go on….go on…go on…
Congratulations!
