Stepn | Only for the rich kids?

Yesterday there was another launchpad on Binance for whoever decided to buy a few tokens for an initial sales price and had the option to get their hands on a token for nearly free. I have done this a couple of times before and it was always profitable. Yesterday I was in no option to participate to get the tokens, and honestly I don't know if I would have sold them if I had the option.

This was because of the move-2-earn game that was behind this token called Stepn, which I was kind of intrigued with.

Would this be the next Axie Infinity but then with moving around in your daily routines?

I decided to give it a try in signing up and seeing where it would all end. And that my friends...was pretty darn fast.

Getting the app was actually quite easy. Going to your app store on your cellphone and downloading the app. After getting a log in that this was you you needed to activate you account in Discord or in a Telegram channel. Also again after just a couple of clicks I received an activation code so I was ready to start.

But then.... I found out that you needed to own an NFT sneaker to start your activity with. After you have performed your activitity you receive tokens which will give you to option to upgrade your sneaker of create better NFTs.

But the starting of getting an NFT sneaker was currently 9.8 SOL. And if you check the markets Solana is currently going for $82 per pop. Better said, you need $800 bucks to actually start playing this game. And that...is just a bridge to far. So unless these prices drop or I have the possibility to get a cheap sneaker from someone/ somewhere I will let this one pass by as well.

I really got the same feeling as I had with Axie Infinity when I also discovered it first in this post. At that time you needed around $600 for your Axies to start breeding which I also already found a bridge to far.

I get it, you want to prevent bot accounts from taking over so the starting level is high. But on the other hand, for the average Joe who is not really sure if they really want to start to use these apps/games, this is not really a try out kind of level.

It is a pity that this excludes a lot of people from the start on starting to use such an app. See in other games like Splinterlands the only thing you need is a starter pack of $10 and maybe a couple of ards you want to rent of buy but I would say for $50 you are quite ready to start to level up your game a bit with getting rewards. Yes, these rewards start out small but over the long time they will advance at some point when you keep coming back consistently. I don't mind giving something time, but you need to enjoy the process.

And now with these starting prices from Stepn, we will just never know.
