Beers in a new town catching up with old friends from around the world

I love it when we have the chance to catch up with friends from around the world. When you move away 8000 kilometers you are not sure how the future looks in terms of when we all see each other again, depending on how life goes and where we all end up.

So I was more then surprised when I saw that a friend would be in the neighborhood and as a proper island style life goes...it didn't take a lot of time for us to make a meet up happen since we all don't have a lot of agendas.

We decided to meet up in the city of Utrecht in Holland, because it is literally the most central place of the whole country and it is easy accessable from everywhere, especially by train.

And for some stupid reason, I felt like a tourist again in this city. Most people coming from abroad skip visiting Utrecht and honestly, I also have done this for a very long time. Because if you don't have anything to do, why would you visit a place like Utrecht?

Not fair to say, because this is actually a very nice and beautiful town with a good city centre!

Canals

And there the were again, the canals which make the bigger cities of Holland so recognizable. The canals which we don't have in the south of Holland, so I don't identify myself with this as a home town view. That makes it even cooler to walk around as a tourist even!

Admittingly, with getting a into a lot of stories from the past and bringing up some old memories a lot of beer was involved and also a lot of laughter. That is actually an awesome reflection of how our friendship also was back in the days, a lot of beer and a lot of laughter as well.

It was super cool to walk around the canals and take every terrace we could find to have a beer and make some laughs.

But as kids coming from a Caribbean island we all found it was cold as crap in Holland at the moment. My friends came from always being in a warm climate, and I was in a warm climate as well recently, so yeah...you can't stay outside forever especially since it is getting dark so early at the moment.

As my friend mentioned: it is amazing to see how just simple bars and restaurants are decorating their places to make it nice for people to spend their time inside.

Like come on..why on earth woud you put this on the wall. Awesome right!?

I love the whole concept of catching up in a random place. And especially since I also felt so new in the whole sightseeing proces, even though it was in my own country. There is so much to explore in the world.!

But the most important thing was that even after that we hadn't seen each other for like 5 years....Nothing changed. It was like there was a week in between just that we had gotten grey hair in the mean time.

Let's not wait for another five years again to meet up....because this was damn fun again!
