So you've decided to work online for whatever reason. Don't know where to start or how to go about it. When I first started out online, I also had no idea what I was supposed to do. I read numerous online help articles that advised I create an online persona to help identify myself. That way, I read, I could keep my private life from being linked to online activity.
But where to start?
The reason I was so skeptical about getting and staying online was that I read how identify thieves could easily steal my credentials. I was nervous. The thought of unintentionally providing private information was forever present in my thoughts.
I'd always heard that individuals who ventured online was susceptible to identity theft. You had to protect themselves. You weren't supposed to provide too much information. Never use your real name, any part of your social security number, address, email addresses, or other identifying information that accesses your personal accounts.
So what what I to do?
You can create usernames that incorporate aspects of your personality, your home town, your state or country. You can create different usernames for different programs or websites. However, the more you choose, the more you have to keep track of.

I was urged to create a username that all the online programs and companies require to grant you access to their website or services. This username had to be unique to you and on the opposite end of the spectrum from your offline identity. This username could be yours so others could easily identify and connect with you.
Once you gain an online presence, individuals could recognize you as a person of good faith in dealing with.
After being online for several years, I realized that not everyone adheres to this way of thinking. It's a personal choice that can't be criticized.
Just as important is your password, I feel your user id or username is also important.
But how do I choose it? What do I want it to say about me? Your username should first be unique. It just define your personality and become "you". Some may feel this is not important and shouldn't be given much attention or dwelt too much on. I feel that your username helps create an aura about you that people will remember. It can and should identify you with one look at it.
However, you still have to be careful of your reputation. Just having a username is not enough. You must conduct yourself with ethical behavior so that when another person online sees your username, they will associate it with a trustworthy person behind the screen.
Getting back to choosing a username. I've seen thousands of names that represent a wide variety of subject matter. Some usernames are associated with playfulness, compassion, seriousness, thoughtfulness, and many other adjectives.
Then others opt for usernames that represent on and offline role playing game characters, such dragons, war heroes, fantasy figures, fictitious names and places used in movies and television.
Numerous online username generators exist that can assist you with choosing an appropriate username for your personality. Or you can choose a bold statement about how you want to be perceived online.
An example of this is a first impression. No one knows who you are. The first thing they see about you is your username.

For example, take my username: @justclickindiva
When I first started working online, I created a username for myself that is different from what I use today. I didn't give it much thought until I read an article that convinced me to take it seriously.
Several years ago, I was urged to join online sites that paid its members to view promotions and advertisements. All I had to do was click on each add, then advance to the other once I finished viewing it. The activity was time-consuming and mindless.
When asked what I was doing all day, I would respond, "just clicking." My family thought it was funny. When I did decide to choose a username, I just tweaked it and settled on "justclickin". I used this for several years.
Then in 2019 after joining the blockchain. I wanted to stick with the name, so I just added the word "diva" at the end.
Thus, justclickindiva. was born.
