Conociendo el Parque Guaiquerí / knowing the Guaiqueri Park
El Parque guaiqueri, es una zona ubicada en el centro de la ciudad de cumaná, Estado Sucre Venezuela.
Fue fundado el 25 de junio de 1974, y abierto al público el 16 de diciembre del año 1977; este emblemático parque posee zonas de recreación familiar, cuenta con una concha acústica donde eventualmente se presentan y se exhiben actividades culturales, posee un cafetín donde podrás deleitar de sus deliciosas arepas y empanadas con saber criollo, parques infantiles, cabañas y además si no fuera poco está al lado del rio manzanares, una rivera que atraviesa toda la ciudad de cumana.
El parque guaqueri posee una extensión de 13 hectáreas, constituido de una gran variedad de árboles, donde abundan el árbol de mango, tamarindo, apamate y caobo. Su flora y fauna hacen del lugar un sitio agradable para el disfrute y sano esparcimiento familiar.
El parque guaqueri debe su nombre a los valientes indígenas guaiqueries, pueblo indígena que habitaba la región. En su lengua Wuaika quiere decir alpon y kiri significa hombre, (hombre que usaba el arpon).
Este parque es administrado por el instituto nacional de parques “INPARQUES”, y posee para la seguridad de sus visitantes brigadas de guardaparques.

Guaiqueri Park, is an area located in the center of the city of Cumana, State Sucre Venezuela. It was founded on June 25, 1974, and opened to the public on December 16, 1977; this emblematic park has family recreation areas, has an acoustic shell where cultural activities are presented and exhibited, it has a cafe where you can enjoy their delicious arepas and empanadas with Creole knowledge, playgrounds, cabins and, if that were not enough It is next to the manzanares river, a river that runs through the city of Cumana.
Park has an area of 13 hectares, consisting of a variety of trees, where the mango tree, tamarind, apamate and caobo abound. Its flora and fauna make the place a pleasant place for enjoyment and healthy family recreation.
guaqueri park owes its name to the brave indigenous guaiqueries, indigenous people who inhabited the region. In their language Wuaika means alpon and kiri means man, (man who used the harpoon).
park is managed by the national park institute "INPARQUES", and has park ranger brigades for the safety of its visitors.
