Every time there is a celebration, whether it's a birthday or Christmas, I always think that I must go out and BUY a gift. But through years of gift-giving it seems that most people actually prefer something that I make myself. It's cheaper and I'm really bad at choosing gifts!
My friend's birthday is coming up in April and I have decided to make her an embroidered pillow. I have stitched, to the front of the pillow, one of her favourite quotes and the back of the pillow will be a tapestry pattern with her favourite colours. The tapestry part is taking quite a long time but the embroidering surprisingly isn't. I decided to go with cursive writing to make it "aesthetic" and used a dark brown coloured thread; brown is one of her favourite colours. I didn't have time and the money to go and buy material so I just grabbed one of my clean white knickers vests and cut off the top part, leaving a rectangular pillowish shape.
I actually had to go over the same stitch around four times to make sure it was secure. This was because the thread I was using was very thin and wasn't embroidery thread, which is thick. I also used an embroidery hoop which stretches the fabric, just to make sure I don't make any mistakes. This whole design took me around 3 hours to complete which includes designing the words.
My mom always had the intention of teaching me to weave and embroider, but I did it and after a few days I left it, I was able to do some cute things, but I think I forgot it.
I like more to do strong things, repair things Lol, I learned from my father.
I always value the gifts that people make with their own hands, because there is a personal value.
So you're doing well, your gift will go with a burden of emotions because you dedicate yourself time and that has value.
Happy start of the year 2022.
Good vibes.
You live where my friend is.
